Alison Gilkes (Senior Advisor, UK)
Alison has more than 20 years experience providing digital solutions to the heritage and education sectors, SMEs and European R&D projects. She has an experienced overview of the digital content information sector and a hands-on understanding of just how cultural heritage technology has, from its tentative beginnings, become a leading part of how we express who we are. This has meant never standing still in terms of software and interface design.
Alison, over literally hundreds of projects, has not surprisingly amassed a very wide skill set ranging through interactive, web and app design, programming, database design and project management.
Digital programming and human computer interfaces are a challenging mix to integrate successfully – but this is where so much of Alison’s communications and outreach now takes place. As a hands-on programmer, Alison helps organisations and individual projects to maximise quality outputs.
Alison holds an MSc in Human Computer Interaction from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh and an MA in Contemporary European Studies/Economics from Dundee University.
